Replens FAQs

How often should I apply Replens?

For the best results, most women find they need to apply Replens every 3 days. This does depend on the severity of the dryness however and may need to be applied more or less frequently and is down to your personal preference.

Should Replens be applied right before intercourse?

Replens personal moisturiser works best when it is used regularly as part of a routine and not just before intercourse. Because it delivers long-lasting moisture, it allows you to enjoy intercourse whenever the moment is right, without needing to apply a lubricant just beforehand, which is the main reason it stands apart from other products.

How do you know if you have vaginal dryness?

Most women notice vaginal dryness during intercourse, as they will feel no natural lubrication which will make sex painful and uncomfortable. Other women will notice an itching and burning sensation around their vagina. If you notice any of these symptoms then visit your GP so they can diagnose the problem and recommend a treatment.

Is Replens safe to use with condoms?

Yes, Replens personal moisturiser is completely compatible with natural rubber latex polyisoprene, and polyurethane condoms.

Are there any side effects from using Replens?

Some women may notice a residue or discharge when they first start using Replens; however this is simply caused by the elimination of dead skin cells. This is because your body naturally sheds dry vaginal tissue that has built-up over time but when Replens is regularly applied, this will prevent a build-up of skin cells and discharge will disappear.

Should you continue using Replens during your period?

No, it is recommended to stop using Replens around the time of menstruation and continue use once your flow is completed.

Why is Replens recommended over Hormone Replacement Therapy?

Hormone Replacement Therapy is considered a safe, short-term treatment. However higher doses used long-term can result in some side effects like vaginal bleeding, discharge, hot flashes, muscle spasms, vaginitis and painful menstruation. Replens does not cause the same side effects as Hormone Replacement Therapy treatments like oestrogen creams or tablets.
