Clinically Tested for Treating Scars

Scars or scarring are formed as part of the body’s natural healing process. It is the result of an overproduction of collagen over a wound. While the process scarring goes through changes as it heals, scars are permanent in nature. That said, Bio Oil has been clinically proven to improve the appearance of scars.

Bio-Oils uses a combination of plant extracts and vitamins suspended in an oil base as well as its breakthrough ingredient, PurCellin Oil ™. This plays a key role in the product as it changes the consistency. Making the oil light and non-greasy, it allows the product to be easily absorbed into the scar and improve its appearance.

It is advised that users should apply the oil onto the scar area, twice daily, for a minimum of three months. This regime has been clinically proven to improve the appearance of scars.

Bio-Oil products were examined by proDERM Institute of Applied Dermatological Research centre in Hamburg, Germany in 2010 to gauge its effectiveness at improving the appearance of scars. Questioning across 36 participants with 3-year-old scars, researchers conducted double-blind, randomised and placebo-controlled testing.

After only 15 days, it is evident that 66% of subjects saw an improvement. After 8 weeks, 92% of subjects saw an improvement in their scars. (1, 2)

Clinically Tested for Treating Stretch Marks

Stretch marks form when the body expands quicker than the skin. This causes the skin to rip and tear, forming scars as it heals. This occurs naturally but varies depending on the individual’s skin type, race, age, diet and the hydration of the skin. Another contributing factor is whether the person is undergoing a significant physical change. This could be an adolescent who’s undergoing a growth spurt or a bodybuilder who is rapidly developing muscles and gaining weight. Pregnant women are also more prone to get stretch marks as their baby grows.

Just like regular scars, Bio-Oil is a popular solution to improving the appearance of stretch marks. While they are permanent in nature and can never fully removed, Bio-Oil is specially formulated to improve them.

Bio-Oil should be massaged into the area of the stretch mark, using a circular motion. You need to do this regime for a minimum of 3 months before you may see any positive. You will find results will vary from individual. If you’re pregnant, you can begin treating stretch marks from the start of the second trimester but not before.

Bio-Oil has undergone extensive testing to provide the best results for their customers. During a study by the proDERM Institute for Applied Dermatological Research in 2010, it is shown that 95% of test subjects saw a positive outcome from using the skincare product after 15 days. Across 38 female participants of varying ethnicity and age groups, this double-blind, randomised and placebo-controlled test found Bio-Oil improved the appearance of stretch marks. (3, 4)

Clinically Proven for Uneven Skin Tones

Uneven skin tone occurs due to an inconsistent production of melanin in the body. This is caused by several external, environmental triggers. It could be due to excessive exposure to sunlight or using a low-quality skin lightening product. There are some internal causes such as a fluctuation of hormones during pregnancy, menopause or oral contraceptives. Whatever the causes, uneven skin tones can cause the individual to feel less confident about their appearances.

Bio-Oil is a popular skincare product for uneven skin tones. When used for uneven skin tone or facial scars, it should be applied to the affected areas twice daily, for a minimum of 3 months. Simply massage it into the skin using a circular motion.

In 2011, Thomas J. Stephens & Associates’ trial centre in Texas, USA, conducted a clinical trial on Bio-Oil effectiveness in with improving the appearance of uneven skin tones and mottled pigmentation. They directed a randomised, controlled, efficacy grader-blinded study across 67 female participants with clinically mild to moderate photo-damage on the face and neck.

After 12 weeks, the study showed positive results with 86% of participants experienced significant improvement to uneven skin tones in the face and 71% saw improvement in mottled pigmentation in the face. 69% saw positive results for uneven skin tone on the neck and 60% saw the benefits of Bio Oil for mottled pigmentation on the neck. Clinically Proven for Ageing Skin

Wrinkled skin is commonly associated with ageing. This is caused by the weakening of the collagen and elastin in the skin. It is a chief concern for most people in the public.

Bio-Oil can help people reduce the appearance of wrinkles and the telltale signs of ageing. The formulated oil contains ingredients designed to help plasticise the skin, making it soft and more supple. A bonus is that Bio-Oil moisturises the skin, improving the texture, tone and appearance.

This is done by simply applying Bio-Oil to the affected areas twice daily and as part of your skincare routine.

This has been clinically proven by Thomas J. Stephens & Associates in 2011. With a randomised, controlled, efficacy grader-blinded study with 67 female participants, this research yielded positive results. Over 12 weeks, the study showed 94% of subjects saw a 90% improvement to the face and 80% improvement to the overall body. (8, 9)
