Gaviscon Infant Sachets provide fast, soothing and long-lasting relief from the pain and discomfort of heartburn and acid indigestion for your children. It is a popular over-the-counter medicine for treating gastric reflux.
Gastric Reflux is most likely caused by certain foods and drinks. However, it can be a symptom of other conditions as well as a side effect from certain medications.
Gaviscon infant sachets are an oral powder which is suitable for children ages 1 to 2. It contains two main ingredients, sodium alginate and magnesium alginate. Both of these are known reflux suppressants.
These form a gel in the stomach when they come in contact with the stomach acid. This causes stomach contents to thicken and prevents reflux.
Gavison Infant Sachets should only be used for infants aged 1-2 years. You should not use this product if your child is allergic to any of the ingredients. Do not use if you're using a thickening agent for feeding. If your infant is taking medication, please consult a doctor or healthcare provider before using Gavison Infant Sachets.

Gaviscon Infant for effective treatment of regurgitation/reflux in infants and children.
Gaviscon Infant is suitable for both breast and formula-fed babies alongside existing feed. Easy to use sachets can be mixed with water or milk feed, during or after a feed.
Gaviscon Infant is a powder for oral administration. Each sachet contains one dose. Prepare immediately before use, as directed on pack. Do not give more than six times in 24 hours. Gaviscon Infant is not to be used in infants under 1 year of age, except under medical supervision. Always read the label.
Infant reflux is a common condition that affects 50% of babies in their first three months.
Infant reflux mainly occurs in babies as they have an underdeveloped valve between food pipe and stomach.
Infant reflux typically occurs after feeds in the form of regurgitation but can also give rise to other troublesome symptoms.

Gaviscon Infant works by thickening the contents of the stomach.
This helps to stop the stomach contents escaping into the food pipe and therefore helps to control reflux symptoms.
Gaviscon Infant works in a physical, non-systemic way meaning it is not absorbed into the baby bloodstream to work.
Gaviscon Infant can be used with both breast and formula fed infants alongside their normal feed.
Sachets can be mixed with water or milk feed and given during or after the feed.
If you find a spoon isn’t working, you can try using a pipette when feeding.
Dosage
Sterile powder for oral administration. Prepare immediately before use, as directed below. Do not give more than six times in 24 hours.
Infants under 4.5kg (10lb): one sachet
Infants over 4.5kg (10lb): two sachets
Bottle fed infants up to 2 years of age: Mix each sachet into 115ml (4 fluid oz) of feed in the bottle. Shake well. Feed the infant as normal.
Breast fed infants and other infants up to 2 years: Mix each sachet with 5ml (1 teaspoon) of cooled, boiled water until a smooth paste is formed. Add another 10ml (2 teaspoons) of cooled, boiled water and mix.
For breast fed infants give Gaviscon Infant part way through each feed or meal using a spoon or feeding bottle.
For all other infants give Gaviscon Infant at the end of each meal using a spoon or feeding bottle.
Not to be used in premature infants or infants under one year except under medical supervision.
Warnings
Do not use Gaviscon Infant with other feed thickening agents or infant milk preparations containing a thickening agent.
Do not use more than the stated amount.
Each sachet s security sealed. Do not use if damaged.
Each sachet of Gaviscon Infant contains approximately 21mg (0.92mmol) sodium. If your infant has been put on a low sodium (salt) diet, ask your doctor or other health professional before giving the product.
Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not use this product after the expiry date.
